A panel of experts from several professions who handle aspects of elder abuse cases discuss two sample cases to showcase the interdisciplinary approach to developing solutions.
Abstract
This panel discussion highlights the multidisciplinary nature of cases of elder abuse. Experts from the fields of law, medicine, adult protective services, criminal justice and mental health focus on two fictional cases of abuse that are used to illustrate the roles that each of these professions play in attempting to protect victims of elder abuse. The panel moderator points out that professionals in all of these fields need to educate themselves about all of the options available for dealing with a case of abuse so that they can help victims make informed decisions about the best solutions for them.
