HAVING SURVEYED PUBLISHED AND UNPUBLISHED WORKS ON THE SUBJECT, THE AUTHOR EVALUATES THE THEORETICAL ATTEMPTS TO EXPLAIN CORRUPTION AND MANAGERIAL EFFORTS TO ELIMINATE IT AND SUPPLIES A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE LITERATURE.
Abstract
IN ADDITION TO SOURCES ON THEORY, THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES HISTORICAL STUDIES, REPORTS OF GOVERNMENTAL COMMISSIONS, AND STUDIES OF CORRUPTION IN EUROPEAN, ASIAN, AND AFRICAN COUNTRIES. A SPECIAL CHAPTER REVIEWS THE LITERATURE ON POLITICAL-GOVERNMENTAL CORRUPTION THAT AFFECTS LAW ENFORCEMENT. IN AN APPENDIX, THE AUTHOR IDENTIFIES AND DISCUSSES THOSE ASPECTS OF POLICE CORRUPTION WHICH ARE INADEQUATELY REPORTED IN THE LITERATURE. THIS SECTION OF THE BOOK PROVIDES RESEARCHERS WITH USEFUL, NEW APPROACHES TO THE STUDY OF CORRUPT PRACTICES AND BEHAVIOR. AN INDEX IS INCLUDED.
