THE TYPES OF LOCKS, HOW TO CHOOSE THE PROPER LOCK FOR A SPECIFIC SECURITY PURPOSE, SPECIAL LOCK APPLICATIONS, AND METHODS OF SURREPTITIOUS ENTRY AND BYPASS TECHNIQUES ARE DISCUSSED HEREIN.
Abstract
THE INTERNAL MECHANISMS OF MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF LOCKS ARE EXPLAINED AND ILLUSTRATED. THERE IS A SHORT GLOSSARY TYPES OF PREMISES ARE DISCUSSED, AND THE PROPER TYPE OF LOCK IS SUGGESTED. THE WEAK POINTS OF SPECIFIC LOCKS ARE PRESENTED AS WELL AS THE EFFECTIVE FEATURES. THE AUTHOR STRESSES THAT ANY LOCK, NO MATTER HOW WELL BUILT, CAN BE CIRCUMVENTED BECAUSE A LOCK IS MERELY A PERIPHERAL-ENTRY DELAYING DEVICE. THE PROPER APPLICATION OF LOCKS CAN, HOWEVER, BE A SIGNIFICANT DETERRENT.
