THE SPECTRUM OF ACTIVITIES THAT CONCERN POLICE IS THE BASIS OF THIS ANNUAL REPORT.
Abstract
ACCORDING TO THIS REPORT, 1975 WITNESSED A RISING CRIME RATE, BUT A LEVELING OF THE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT RATE. FIGURES ON INTERNAL DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONING SHOW THAT IT HAD A NET LOSS OF 5,000 OFFICERS DURING THE YEAR. THE COMMISSIONER REPORTED FEWER SERIOUS DISORDERS THAN IN 1974. THE REPORT CITES SUCH INFORMATION AS THE NUMBER OF POLICE OFFICERS INJURED DURING THE YEAR, AND THE NUMBER OF AWARDS EARNED BY OFFICERS. APPENDICES REPORT ON THE TYPES OF ARRESTS MADE BY OFFICERS, AND INCLUDES A SPEECH GIVEN BY THE COMMISSIONER AT A UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION, IN WHICH HE CALLS FOR INCREASED PUBLIC SUPPORT TO BOLSTER THE MORALE OF THE OFFICER ON THE STREET....BS
