Abstract
OVERALL CRIME WAS REDUCED IN THE CITY DURING 1977 AS A RESULT OF VARIOUS PROJECTS: EXPERIMENT INVOLVING EIGHT STREET OFFICERS WHO WORE PLAIN CLOTHES AND USED BICYCLES TO PATROL PARKING LOTS, ABANDONED BUILDINGS, AND DARK ALLEYS; COALITION OF CITIZENS AND THE POLICE IN THE HOLLYWOOD AREA; OPERATION SOLIDARITY, A PROGRAM TO MINIMIZE POTENTIALLY DISRUPTIVE SITUATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH PUBLIC SCHOOL DESEGREGATION THROUGH TEAM POLICING; AIR SUPPORT TO REGULAR POLICE OPERATIONS ON THE GROUND; UNDERWATER INVESTIGTIONS; UNDERCOVER NARCOTICS ACTIVITIES; EMERGENCY OPERATIONS, INCLUDING TESTING FOR SEISMIC FAULTS; POLICE OFFICER TRAINING; AND JUVENILE AND VICE INVESTIGATION, INCLUDING CHILD PROSTITUTION.
