This report summarizes current organizational structure and function of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department for the fiscal year, 1988-1989.
Abstract
It provides a department summary including organizational and budgetary information, geographic and demographic data, and a criminal activity summary. It also summaries the organization and activities of the executive office, describes field operations for Regions I, II, and III and provides data on crime rates of Part I offenses, cases handled and case assignments, adult and juvenile arrests, Part I offenses cleared, stolen and recovered property, and a traffic accident and enforcement summary for particular stations and contract cities. Part I offenses include criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny theft, auto theft, and arson and are tabulated by the Sheriff's Department according to Uniform Crime Report standards. They are statistically filed with regard to violations, locations of occurrences and arrests by age and gender of offenders and by disposition of cases. Additional statistical data are provided for the administrative, technical services, custody, detective, and court services divisions.
