A FACILITIES DESCRIPTION FOR AE DESIGN IS DESCRIBED AS PRESENTED IN 1975 TO THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT EMERGENCY COMMAND CONTROL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM PROGRAM MANAGEMENT OFFICE.
Abstract
THIS DOCUMENT PROVIDES AN ESTIMATE OF THE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT, ARCHITECTURAL, STRUCTURAL, MECHANICAL, AND ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EMERGENCY COMMAND CONTROL COMMUNICATION PROJECT. LOCATIONS WITHIN CITY HALL EAST AS WELL AS REMOTE RADIO SITES AND LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT AREA HEADQUARTERS ARE CONSIDERED. A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF NINE RELATED DOCUMENTS PRECEDES THE DESCRIPTION PROPER. ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT IS ITEMIZED AND TABULATED AS TO SIZE AND TOTAL POWER FOR THE FOLLOWING: THE POLICE DISPATCH ROOM, THE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AND TAPE ROOM, THE COMMUNICATIONS OPERATIONS ROOM, THE POLICE ECC ROOM, AND THE DSB'S CHE COMPUTER CENTER, ALSO THE AREA COMMAND CENTER, THE ACC EQUIPMENT ROOM, REMOTE RADIO SITES, AND MT. LEE. NEXT, THE GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DESIGN ARE DESCRIBED, INCLUDING CODES AND STANDARDS, FACILITY-EQUIPMENT SIZING, SOUND CONTROL, PRELIMINARY FLOOR PLAN, AND AE FUNCTION. ALSO DESCRIBED ARE ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL ASPECTS OF THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT COMMUNICATIONS CENTER WITH DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT FEATURES SUCH AS CONCRETE SLABS TO ACCOMMODATE PROPOSED ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS, AND WALL AND CEILING SPECIFICATIONS. SPECIFICATIONS ARE GIVEN FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING, VENTILATION, FIRE-PROTECTING, AND PLUMBING SYSTEMS. FINALLY THERE IS AN EXPLANATION OF THE PROPOSED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WITH A LISTING OF SUCH SPECIAL FEATURES AS A LOCAL MONITORING SYSTEM FOR THE BUILDING EQUIPMENT AND CABLE TRAYS AND OTHER COMMUNICATION RACEWAYS. A BLUEPRINT OF THE COMMUNICATION CENTER AT THE UNDERGROUND LEVELS IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE APPENDIX, BUT WAS ORIGINALLY PART OF THIS DOCUMENT. (FCW)
