Abstract
Section I presents the scope of the problem and includes a summary of the unified efforts nationally and within this community to alleviate drug and alcohol abuse, along with the data-collection and reporting processes that have been implemented to focus attention on these illegal activities. Section II details drug-related arrests by offense and drug type, provides information on the various types of dispositions for drug-related cases, and gives a description of each. Data are provided on drug convictions and the sentences imposed for particular convictions, along with average prison sentence lengths. Information on juvenile drug arrests and juvenile drug- related incidents are also included. Section III provides information on drug types, quantities seized and purchased, and the estimated street values of those drugs. It details the asset seizure/forfeiture program and provides statistics on assets that were seized and/or forfeited as a result of illegal drug activities and subsequent court forfeiture activities. This section includes information on drug and alcohol-related emergency room incidents and deaths. Statistics are provided on alcohol arrests, dispositions, convictions, and sentencing. Section IV provides data on adult and juvenile violent crime offenders, including arrest, disposition, conviction and sentencing information for homicides, rapes, robberies, assaults, and burglaries. Appended tables illustrate the nine-year comparison of drug statistics, a six-year comparison of alcohol- only statistics, and data for the five years of violent crime occurrences.
