THIS TRAINING PROGRAM STUDY, DATED MARCH 1977, WAS CONDUCTED FOR THE LOUISVILLE DIVISION OF POLICE, WHOSE 1,091 PERSONNEL (788 SWORN) SERVE 356,982 PEOPLE LIVING IN AN AREA OF 60 SQUARE MILES.
Abstract
THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED TO PROVIDE A CURRICULUM REFINEMENT OF THE FIELD TRAINING OFFICER PROGRAM CONDUCTED JOINTLY IN MARCH 1976 BY THE LOUISVILLE DIVISION OF POLICE TRAINING ACADEMY AND THE LEXINGTON METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAINING DIVISION. TO ACHIEVE GOALS IN THIS PROJECT, THREE PHASES OF RESEARCH ACTIVITY WERE INITIATED: LITERATURE SEARCH, FIELD INTERVIEWS, AND DATA REVIEW AND ASSIMILATION. FOLLOWING A DELINEATION OF THE PROBLEM, THE MAJOR PORTION OF THE TEXT IS DEVOTED TO THE FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS GLEANED FROM THE STUDY....KAP
