Lumiquest's Soft Box can be a useful tool in forensic photography by increasing the quality of photographs in difficult field lighting situations.
Abstract
The use of photography to document crime scenes has always been essential in any investigation. In order to improve quality, photographic studios regularly practice softening the contrast of flash-illuminated subjects. Lumiquest has developed the Soft Box to overcome difficult field lighting environments. The Soft Box attaches to the flash, increasing the effective size of the light source in relation to the subject and diffusing the light source to achieve maximum contrast reduction. The Soft Box weighs only 3.5 ounces and folds flat to a thickness of 1/2 inch and can be easily installed in seconds. When installed, the diffuser lens protrudes 3-1/4 inches further than the original strobe lens. The Soft Box has a unique design which allows it to be used on most flashes without affecting automatic exposure or focus assist operations and costs only about $22 to $30. 2 figures
