Abstract
There are new types of police forces in democratic societies, and their main features are known today. A democratic state must have an open, controllable, and effective police force. Police forces must have the ability to combat international organized crime and face the challenges of crime trends in western Europe. The relationship between police and community must be re-established in Hungary. (English summary)
