STATISTICAL STUDY OF 200 SERIOUSLY MALADJUSTED NONDELINQUENT BOYS 13 TO 18 YEARS OLD, COMPARING THEM WITH 500 RANDOMLY SELECTED, DELINQUENT BOYS 14 TO 18 YEARS OLD.
Abstract
THE STUDY DEALT WITH INDIVIDUAL PHYSICAL CONDITION, INTELLIGENCE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHIATRIC DISTURBANCES, PERSONALITY TRAITS AND FAMILY AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR. NO OUTSTANDING DIFFERENCES WERE FOUND BETWEEN THE DELINQUENTS AND THE NONDELINQUENTS. RATHER, THEY HAD A MULTIPLICITY OF POINTS IN COMMON. THE AUTHORS DISTINGUISH TWO TYPES OF MALADJUSTED JUVENILES, WHETHER DELINQUENT OR NOT - THOSE WHO DO NOT DISPLAY SERIOUS MALADJUSTMENT UNTIL ADOLESCENCE AND THOSE WHO ARE SERIOUSLY MALADJUSTED EARLY.
