The management plan of the New Zealand Department of Justice is based on several broad objectives which include balancing individual rights and freedoms with State powers and among individuals. The department is guided in its tasks by principles of fairness, humanity, and respect for the individual. Some issues which guide this management plan are fiscal restraint, refinement of service delivery, equity issues and grievances associated with the Treaty of Waitangi, and economic conditions.
Abstract
The Department's emphasis will be on policy, cooperation and cultural perspectives, and performance including equal employment opportunities. Departmental statements are accompanied by descriptions of government outcomes and departmental output classes, divisions and their output classes, projected financial performance, and budget information. Finally, the plan outlines functional groups of the Department and 1990-1991 staffing levels.
