CERTAIN TYPES OF MANAGERIAL BEHAVIOR ARE FOUND TO BE MORE CONGRUENT WITH SPECIFIC CORRECTIONAL POLICIES THAN ARE OTHERS.
Abstract
FOR AN UNDERSTANDING OF STAFF AND INMATE BEHAVIOR THE PROCESS BY WHICH THE STAFF IS ORGANIZED AND MANAGED SHOULD BE ANALYZED INDEPENDENTLY OF CORRECTIONAL CONCERNS. THE AUTHORS CONCLUDE THAT THE PERFORMANCE OF MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS NOT ONLY HAS RELEVANCE TO THE AMOUNT AND QUALITY OF CORRECTIONAL PRODUCTION, BUT TO A SIGNIFICANT DEGREE MAY DETERMINE THE KIND OF CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS AND THE KIND OF INTERVENTION STRATEGIES THAT ARE POSSIBLE.
