This manual presents instructor's guidelines and a 15- lesson curriculum designed to develop and reinforce conflict resolution skills in adolescents in either classroom or residential settings.
Abstract
Starting with the first lesson, students are asked to consider their responses to conflict, which are placed on the Conflict Puzzle. Throughout the rest of the curriculum, students learn skills for positive conflict resolution. The curriculum is divided into four sections: understanding conflict, communication skills, managing anger, and problemsolving skills. Each lesson outlines the objectives, materials needed to teach the lesson, the preparations prior to a class, a lesson overview for the instructor, and a detailed set of procedures. Many of the lessons have accompanying handouts. The curriculum is intended for use over a period of 3-6 weeks to provide time for students to learn, process, and begin to practice the skills introduced. The lessons make extensive use of role playing, small group work, and other experiential learning strategies. Program materials, program completion certificate, and order form
