QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE MANPOWER NEEDS PROJECTED THROUGH 1980, WITH ATTENTION TO THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS AND KINDS OF PROGRAMS EACH STATE UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE SHOULD HAVE IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION.
Abstract
THE NUMBER OF PERSONS NEEDED IN ALL PHASES OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE WORK THROUGH 1980 IS PROJECTED WITHIN EACH DISTRICT SERVED BY A STATE UNIVERSITY OF A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE AVERAGE ANNUAL NUMBER OF PERSONS TO BE TRAINED IN POLICE, COURT, AND REHABILITATION WORK IS LISTED FOR EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT, THUS GIVING EACH SCHOOL A MEASURE FOR DETERMINING IF ITS ENROLLMENT IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS IS SUFFICIENT TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE AREA IT SERVES. SOME OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR HIGHER EDUCATION IN CRIMINOLOGY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE; ENCOURAGEMENT OF EACH UNIVERSITY TO DEVELOP BACCALAUREATE DEGREE PROGRAMS IN CRIMINOLOGY/CRIMINAL JUSTICE; DEVELOPMENT OF INTERN AND OTHER PARTICIPANT STUDY PROGRAMS; DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTERDISCIPLINARY MASTERS' PROGRAM IN JUDICIAL MANAGEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING. APPENDICES INCLUDE STATE STATUTES AFFECTING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND THE QUESTIONNAIRE SENT TO EACH COLLEGE.
