Abstract
The handbook first presents a table that shows change (repeal, new, add, amend) in identified code sections, along with chapter/(section) and effective date. The changes are presented under the following captions: crimes and punishments, correctional services, transportation -- vehicle laws, alcoholic beverages, fires and investigations, courts and judicial proceedings, criminal procedure, family law, insurance, and natural resources. Maryland legal guidelines are then explained under the topics of detention and arrest, criminal liability, search and seizure, expectation of privacy, the exclusionary rule, liability, Fifth Amendment rights and privileges, Sixth Amendment right to counsel, suspect identification, foreign nations, and diplomatic immunity. The texts of specific laws are then presented under the following general areas: crimes and punishments, correctional services, transportation - vehicle laws, and "related statutes." The latter involve alcoholic beverages, fires and investigations, inspections, militia, courts and judicial proceedings, criminal procedures, family law (children: abuse, missing), insurance, labor and employment, natural resources, and State government. A subject index is provided.
