Abstract
The report lists revenue and expenditure components of the state-funded judicial budget. The organization of the judicial system is covered with respect to the Court of Appeals, the Court of Special Appeals, circuit courts, the District Court, and the Orphans' Court. Judicial administration is examined in terms of the Administrative Office of the Courts, human resources, the Judicial Institute of Maryland, judicial information systems, circuit court management services, the Select Committee on Gender Equality, fiscal management and procurement, judge assignment, the Court Information Office, and the District Court of Maryland. Court-related units are noted as the Board of Law Examiners, the Rules Committee, the Maryland State Law Library, the Attorney Grievance Commission, and the Clients' Security Trust Fund. Final sections of the report focus on the appointment, discipline, and removal of judges and on 1998 legislation affecting the courts.
