SELF-JUDGED EFFECT OF TREATMENT ORIENTED INSTITUTION ON AGGRESSIVE DELINQUENT BOYS IN TERMS OF THEIR PERCEPTIONS OF THEIR STAY.
Abstract
SIX DIFFERENT AREAS OF PERCEIVED INSTITUTIONAL IMPACT WERE INCLUDED IN A SURVEY GIVEN TO YOUTHS AT THE POINT OF THEIR RELEASE FROM THE TRAINING INSTITUTION, CENTRAL OHIO. THE VARIOUS SETS OF PERCEPTIONS OF THE DEPARTING BOYS VARIED FROM SOMEWHAT UNFAVORABLE TO SLIGHTLY FAVORABLE ON THE SIX SEPARATE CLUSTERS OF ITEMS. A SEPARATE SURVEY OF THE STAFF WHO BEST KNEW THE BOYS REVEALED THAT THE STAFF'S RATINGS WERE CONSIDERABLY MORE FAVORABLE THAN THE YOUTH'S PERCEPTIONS OF THEIR INSTITUTIONAL STAY IN TERMS OF CHANCES FOR A POSITIVE FUTURE OUTCOME.
