Annotation

This article describes the methods and results of a research project designed to measure the needs and level of satisfaction of persons sentenced to probation supervision.

Abstract

The questionnaire administered contained a number of instruments, including the Probationer Concern Inventory (PCI) which consists of 45 comparisons by pairs and is intended to measure the probationer's need for clarity, flexibility, assistance, control, support, and autonomy; a self-administered version of the Self-Anchor Striving Scale which measures the subject's position relative to self-generated concerns, and the Perception of Probation Officer Scale, which requires that the subject rank order a number of phrases describing his or her probation officer. The probation officer descriptions contained in this instrument are intended to reflect the PCI dimensions. (Author abstract)
