Abstract
MEDICOLEGAL INVESTIGATION OF DEATH IS A TEXTBOOK DESIGNED FOR USE BY THE VETERAN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATOR OR THE NOVICE FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST. THE VARIOUS CAUSES OF DEATH ARE EACH COVERED IN SEPARATE CHAPTERS. THESE INCLUDE TRAUMA AND DISEASE, BLUNT AND SHARP FORCE INJURIES, GUNSHOT WOUNDS, THERMAL INJURIES, CRIMINAL ABORTIONS, INFANTICIDE, SEX CRIME, AND DRUG ABUSE. OTHER SECTIONS DEAL WITH AIRCRAFT CRASH INVESTIGATIONS, GUIDELINES FOR THE PRESERVATION OF TOXICOLOGICAL EVIDENCE, AND SELECTED PROCEDURES AT AUTOPSIES. THE CONTRIBUTING EDITORS ARE ALL PRACTITIONERS IN VARIOUS FIELDS OF FORENSIC SCIENCES. ALTHOUGH THE BOOK IS PRIMARILY ADDRESSED TO PROFESSIONALS IN THESE FIELDS, THE NUMEROUS, VIVID ILLUSTRATIONS AND DIAGRAMS MAKE THE TEXT COMPREHENSIBLE TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE INTERPRETATION OF FORENSIC PATHOLOGICAL FINDINGS.
