PROJECT OBJECTIVES OF THE COUNSELING, REFERRAL, AND DROP-IN CENTER, AGENCY BACKGROUND AND DEVELOPMENT, A COMPARISON OF STATISTICS WITH GOALS, AND PROJECT MONITORING RESULTS ARE GIVEN IN THIS PROGRAM ASSESSMENT.
Abstract
THE PROJECT OBJECTIVES WERE TO REDUCE THE CRISIS LEVEL OF DRUG ABUSE THROUGH AWARENESS AND COUNSELING PROGRAMS, TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY DRUG EDUCATION, TO GIVE FREE, CONFIDENTIAL COUNSELING AND CRISIS INTERVENTION 24 HOURS A DAY, TO TRAIN COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS, AND TO DEVELOP 20 CRISIS HOMES. SPECIFIC GOALS TO MEASURE ACHIEVEMENT OF THESE OBJECTIVES ARE ALSO LISTED. SERVICES OF THE AGENCY, SUCH AS PHONE SERVICE COUNSELING AND REFERRAL OR THE CRISIS HOME PLAN ARE DESCRIBED. THE PROGRAM WAS EVALUATED QUANTITATIVELY THROUGH A COMPARISON OF THE STATISTICS WITH THE BRIDGE'S GOALS, AND QUALITATIVELY THROUGH PERSONAL MONITORING AND INTERVIEWING OF COMMUNITY PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL. SAMPLE QUESTIONS ASKED IN THE INTERVIEWS ARE LISTED. MOST GOALS AND OBJECTIVES WERE FOUND TO BE ACHIEVED, WITH NOTABLE PROGRESS MADE IN REDUCING JUVENILE DRUG ARRESTS, PRESENTATIONS ON DRUG ABUSE, AND USE OF THE CRISIS PHONE LINE. THE ASSESSMENT OF COMMUNITY IMPACT THROUGH INTERVIEWS WITH PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL IS REPORTED ACCORDING TO RESPONDING PUBLIC AGENCY.
