A METHADONE MAINTENANCE TREATMENT PROGRAM ESTABLISHED FOR THE PURPOSE OF REHABILITATING HEROIN ADDICTS IS EXAMINED FOR RESULTS, WHICH ARE DESCRIBED IN THIS REPORT AS HAVING ACHIEVED SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS.
Abstract
FUNDED BY A DISCRETIONARY GRANT FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION TO THE HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, THE HARTFORD DISPENSARY METHADONE MAINTENANCE TREATMENT PROGRAM HAS BEEN TREATING HEROIN ADDICTS AND OFFERING FOLLOW-UP SERVICES TO DRUG FREE CLIENTS ON A REGULAR BASIS. SUCH SERVICES INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS, VOCATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING, AND URINE SPECIMEN EXAMINATIONS FOR THE PRESENCE OF DRUGS IN AN INDIVIDUAL SYSTEM. THIS FINAL REPORT ON THE PROGRAM COVERS ALL ASPECTS OF THE ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATION OF THE METHADONE MAINTENANCE CLINIC ALONG WITH RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS AND ADDITIONS (E.G., A DRUG FREE COMPONENT). A REPORT OF EXPENDITURE AND STATUS OF DISCRETIONARY GRANT FUNDS IS INCLUDED IN THE REPORT. ADDENDA TO THE REPORT DETAIL PROGRAM ADMISSION CRITERIA (INCLUDING A COPY OF THE ADMISSION APPLICATION FORM), SCREENING AND EVALUATION BOARD PROCEDURES, A COPY OF THE CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE PROSPECTIVE CLIENT AND THE CLINIC, AND A COPY OF THE WEEKLY STAFF/PROGRAM MEMBER CONTACT FORM.
