MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF LOS ANGELES TRAFFIC ACCIDENT OCCURRENCE CONSTRUCTED TO ESTIMATE THE RELATIVE EFFECTIVENESS OF SEVERAL PATROL ALLOCATION POLICIES.
Abstract
THE MODEL INDICATED THAT THE PRESENCE OF MOTORCYCLE PATROLMEN IS A SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IN THE REDUCTION OF ACCIDENT RATES. AN EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAM IS RECOMMENDED TO TEST THE MODEL UNDER FIELD CONDITIONS, TO PRODUCE DATA ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PATROL ASSIGNMENT AND EFFECTIVENESS THAT WILL ALLOW DECISION MAKERS TO SELECT THE BEST ALLOCATION STRATEGY.
