PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT ACCUSED FELONS, TO FACILITATE JUDGES' DECISIONS TO RELEASE THEM WITH OR WITHOUT BOND.
Abstract
THE PROJECT UTILIZES A POINT SYSTEM, RATING ACCUSED INDIVIDUALS ACCORDING TO THEIR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY TIES, PREVIOUS CRIMINAL RECORD, JOB STATUS, AND OTHER FACTORS LIKELY TO INFLUENCE THEIR APPEARANCE IN COURT. THE REPORT INCLUDES AN OUTLINE OF PROCEDURES, STATISTICS RELATING TO THE PROGRAM, A DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED, AND AN ANALYSIS OF THE FINANCIAL IMPACT OF THE PROJECT. THE APPENDICES INCLUDE VARIOUS FORMS THAT WERE UTILIZED IN CARRYING OUT THE EXPERIMENT, AND COPIES OF NEWS RELEASES.
