A METHOD FOR DEMONSTRATING THE PRESENCE OF MARIJUANA WHEN THE ORGANIC PORTION HAS BEEN DESTROYED BY BURNING.
Abstract
MARIJUANA RETAINS A REMARKABLE AMOUNT OF STRUCTURE WHEN IT IS ASHED. THE COMPONENTS PRESENT IN MARIJUANA ASH HAVE DISTINCTIVE MORPHOLOGIES. THESE CAN BE STUDIED IN CONSIDERABLE DETAIL BY A SIMPLE MICROSCOPIC METHOD DESCRIBED IN THIS ARTICLE. THIS TECHNIQUE WILL BE USEFUL IN CERTAIN FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS. PHOTOMICROGRAPHS OF BOTANICAL SUBSTANCES SIMILAR TO MARIJUANA ASH ARE PRESENTED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
