THEORY, RESEARCH AND PRACTICE OF THE MILITARY PRISON SYSTEM AS IT DIFFERS FROM THE CIVIL CORRECTIONS SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE MILITARY CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM HAS HAD AN IMPACT UPON THE LIVES OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN MEN IN THE ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF ITS EXISTENCE. THE THEORY, GOALS, AND APPLICATIONS OF THIS SYSTEM DIFFER FROM CIVIL CORRECTIONS AND REPRESENT AN IMPORTANT SOURCE OF INFORMATION AND EXPERIENCE IN THE EFFORT TO DETER AND MODIFY CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. THEORETICAL CONSIDERATIONS AND OVERVIEWS OF STAFF AND INSTITUTIONAL PATTERNS IN MILITARY CORRECTIONS, STUDIES RELATED TO THE RESTORATION TO ACTIVE DUTY OF CONFINED SERVICEMEN, AND CHARACTERISTICS OF MILITARY PRISONERS ARE PRESENTED. BIBLIOGRAPHY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
