This handbook of criminal elements provides law enforcement officers with a compact, easy to use reference guide to the basic statutory elements of most major felony offenses and selected misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses in Minnesota.
Abstract
Although the handbook contains a comprehensive list of criminal offenses, it does not outline the elements of every crime and should therefore be used as a supplement to Minnesota's Criminal and Traffic Codes rather than as a substitute. Statutory elements of offenses are broken down in outline form in consecutively numbered paragraphs. Offenses include arson, assault, burglary, controlled substance crimes, criminal sexual conduct, criminal vehicular homicide and injury, property damage, dangerous weapons, and depriving another of custodial or parental rights. Additional offenses include disorderly conduct, driving under the influence, use of a false name, fleeing a peace officer, forgery, interference with privacy, harassment, kidnaping, false imprisonment, malicious child neglect or endangerment, motor vehicle tampering, murder, manslaughter, obstructing the legal process, receiving stolen property, robbery, theft, terrorism, trespass, and worthless checks. Indexes of criminal offenses and definitions are included.
