Abstract
Guidance in preparing for trial covers the trial notebook, the client interview, investigation, discovery, witness interviews, witness preparation, the evaluation and preparation of expert witnesses, the order of witnesses, sequestration of witnesses, and researching the judge and opposing counsel. Guidance on jury selection covers voir dire procedures and the conducting of the voir dire. A separate chapter covers the anticipation of prejudice through motions in limine. Guidance on the conduct of the trial addresses the opening, the cross-examination of police, the cross-examination of the witness who turns State's evidence, dealing with expert witnesses, weakening eyewitness identification, and examining the victim. Other topics covered are the development of the defense theory, the proper instruction of juries, the closing, issues involving the jury or jurors, and the protection of the record after the trial.
