BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF A UNIT CONSISTING OF A MONTAGE MOUNTING UNIT, A TELEVISION CAMERA, AND A TELEVISION MONITOR, CAPABLE OF MAKING COMPOSITE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM DESCRIPTIONS FURNISHED BY WITNESSES OR VICTIMS OF CRIME.
Abstract
THE MINOLTA MONTAGE UNIT PERMITS A RAPID COMBINING OF SEVERAL VARIOUS INDIVIDUAL FACIAL FEATURES, WHICH CAN BE OBTAINED FROM FOUR DIFFERENT PHOTOGRAPHS. EACH PHASE OF CHANGING THE FACIAL FEATURES CAN BE VIEWER ON A CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION MONITOR, WHICH IS PHOTOGRAPHED WITH A CAMERA THAT IS LINKED TO THE MONTAGE UNIT. A PICTURE CREATED BY THE MONTAGE UNIT IS MUCH MORE TRUE TO LIFE THAN AN ARTIST'S SKETCH. INTERESTINGLY, THE SYNTHESIZER IS NOT HINDERED BY RACIAL OR SEX BARRIERS. IT CAN BE ADJUSTED FOR SKIN TONE AND TEXTURE, ALLOWING ANY FEATURE MIX OF MALE, FEMALE, CAUCASIAN, NEGRO, ORIENTAL, ETC. THE VARIABLE FIELD LENS WITH 1 DEGREE TO 1.2 DEGREE ANGLE OF COVERAGE HAS A BUILT-IN POLARIZING FILTER DESIGNED TO ELIMINATE HARD EDGES AT THE LINES WHERE THE VARIOUS ELEMENTS IN THE MONTAGE MEET.
