This manual includes various articles related to missing children and describes the Cobra Connection of America, Inc., a missing children's network in the United States.
Abstract
Changes in the FBI's policy in child kidnapping cases are reported, and the background and goals of the Cobra Connection are described. A list of missing children is supplied, and national statistics on kidnapping, child abuse, and missing children are provided. Attention is focused on child snatching and on abductions by strangers; additionally, a description of the Dee Scofield Awareness Program is provided. The need for parents to make their children 'streetwise' is identified, as is the need for parents to become educated about the major cults. Ways that parents can tell if a child is being active within a cult are summarized; places that parents can go for help if they believe their child has been captivated by a cult are listed. Additionally, steps that parents should take that will make it easier to find their children are described. These include having copies of the children's fingerprints; having recent photographs of the children, knowing the names and addresses of the children's closest friends, and having copies of birth certificates and dental records. Finally, steps that parents can take to protect their children are listed, and block parent programs and court monitoring programs are described. Approximately 30 photographs of missing children are included.
