Abstract
AFTER A BRIEF OPENING REMARK BY THE CONFERENCE CHAIRMAN, THE TRANSCRIPT OF AN ADDRESS BY SENATOR BIRCH BAYH IS PRESENTED IN WHICH HE OUTLINES SOME OF THE PROBLEMS OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND DESCRIBES THE PROVISIONS OF THE 1974 JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACT. THE TEXT OF A SECOND CONFERENCE ADDRESS DEALING WITH THE ISSUES SURROUNDING THE JUVENILE STATUS OFFENDER IS ALSO PRESENTED. AS THE THEME OF THIS CONFERENCE WAS 'THE MISSOURI JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM ON TRIAL', THE PROCEEDINGS ALSO CONTAIN THE TRANSCRIPT OF A MOCK TRIAL IN WHICH THE CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS PRESENT A CASE AGAINST THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE 'JURY' ARE INCLUDED.
