Abstract
THE COUNCIL'S ORGANIZATION AND STAFFING AT THE STATE, REGIONAL, AND SERVICE AREA LEVELS ARE DESCRIBED. PLANNING PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, FINANCIAL, GRANT ADMINISTRATION, AUDITING, RESEARCH AND EVALUATION, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FUNCTIONS ARE SUMMARIZED. THE COUNCIL'S FISCAL 1978 PRIORITIES IN THE PROGRAM AREAS OF POLICE, COURTS, JUVENILE JUSTICE, ADULT CORRECTIONS, AND COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION ARE CITED. FOUR HUNDRED OF THE 600 LEAA-FUNDED PROJECTS IN MISSOURI ARE LISTED AS EXAMPLES OF PROGRESS IN IMPROVING MISSOURI'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. STATISTICS ON THE ALLOCATION OF LEAA FUNDS ARE PRESENTED, AS IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE'S UNIFORM CRIME REPORTING SYSTEM. STANDARD DEFINITIONS OF INDEX CRIMES ACCOMPANY STATE-LEVEL AND POPULATION-CATEGORY (URBAN/RURAL) STATISTICS ON INCIDENCE AND RATE FOR EACH INDEX OFFENSE FOR 1975 AND 1976. THE STATISTICS SHOW DECLINES IN BOTH NUMBER AND RATE FOR ALL INDEX OFFENSES EXCEPT RAPE. ROSTERS OF STATE AND REGIONAL COUNCIL MEMBERS AND ADMINISTRATORS ARE PROVIDED. (LKM)
