This annual report from the Missouri Department of Social Services presents a statistical summary of youth committed to the care of the Division of Youth Services for fiscal year 2010.
Abstract
Highlights from the report include: for fiscal year (FY) 2010, 1,095 youth were committed to Missouri's Division of Youth Services (DYS); 84.3 percent of the committed youth were males, and the average age was 15.2 years; 42.4 percent of the youth had a prior history of mental health services and 57.8 percent had a history of prior substance abuse involvement; 10.7 percent were committed for the most serious felonies, while 41.9 percent were committed for less serious felonies; and 89.8 percent of all discharges from DYS custody were satisfactory.
