THE DIVISION OF YOUTH SERVICES OF MISSOURI OFFERS ITS 1979 ANNUAL REPORT DESCRIBING SERVICES PROVIDED AND THE OVERALL DIRECTION OF THE AGENCY.
Abstract
AN OVERVIEW OF THE AGENCY EXPLORES THE AGENCY'S BASIC PURPOSE AND SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM GOALS. THE SERVICES ARE BROKEN DOWN INTO RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS, NONRESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS, AND STAFF SERVICES. RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE THOSE THAT ARE COMMUNITY-BASED, OF MODERATE STRUCTURE (PARK CAMPS), AND OF HIGH STRUCTURE (INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMS). NONRESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE AFTERCARE, CLASSIFICATION AND RECEPTION, PREVENTION, AND INCENTIVE SUBSIDY (WHICH PROVIDES A MEANS FOR COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP SERVICES LOCALLY). DISCUSSION OF STAFF SERVICES REFERS TO ADMINISTRATION CONSIDERATIONS, TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT, AND PROGRAM PLANNING. FOR ALL SERVICES, CONTACT PERSONS' NAMES AND ADDRESSES ARE PROVIDED, AS ARE PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS AND TARGET GROUPS. STATISTICAL DATA, DIAGRAMS, AND TABLES SHOW NUMBERS OF COMMITMENTS BY YEARLY TOTALS AND ACCORDING TO AREA, AGE, EDUCATION LEVEL, AND COMMITTING OFFENSE; REGIONAL INFORMATION; LENGTH OF STAY; REGION AND DISPOSITION FOR AFTERCARE; DISCHARGE STATISTICS, AND A BUDGET SUMMARY.
