The report presents a summary of a century of service to youth in Missouri, covers services in 1989, and details what is to be expected in the future.
Abstract
The history of the Division starts in 1889 with the establishment of two large training schools providing mostly custodial care and has progressed to become a dynamic agency offering a wide range of residential and community-based programs for troubled youth. The year 1989 saw the Division experiencing a 30-percent increase in commitments. The future involves plans to increase the Division's bed space capacity and to expand the community-based services. A listing of the Division's offices and facilities concludes the report.
