This report presents descriptions and statistics on the caseloads, expenditures, and operations of the Missouri State court system during the fiscal year ending on June 30, 1996.
Abstract
Accomplishments during the year included the establishment of an Internet website, significant progress on in court automation, a revision of the weighted workload system for court support staff, and the establishment of financial and technical incentives to encourage court offices to consolidate their clerical functions. Other efforts focused on streamlining the statutory definition of court costs and collection procedures, further implementation of case processing time standards, and installation of 15 new or upgraded local area computer networks. General civil case filings increased 3 percent from the previous years, while felony case filings and dispositions increased 3.5 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively. Juvenile case filings decreased 2.8 percent from the record number filed in fiscal year 1995. Figures, tables, and photograph
