Abstract
Information obtained for this annual report indicates that as a result of funding from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program, the Missouri Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement (CJ/LE) Program was able to provide funding assistance to 34 State and local level projects for the period July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010 that dealt with illicit drug use and violent crime in the State. The total amount of money awarded during this period was $1,711,685, which also included JAG program monies awarded during fiscal years 2007 and 2008. Data from the study titled Nature and Extent of the Illicit Drug Problem in Missouri, conducted by the Missouri Department of Public Safety and the Missouri Statistical Analysis Center, provides the baseline information used to evaluate the effectiveness of the JAG funded programs that are part of Missouri's statewide drug and violent crime strategy. The data and analyses from the study of illicit drug use in the State are presented in this report, along with an overview of the 2010 4-year strategic plan that includes brief summaries of the categories of programs that received funding assistance.
