Abstract
THE LAW ENFORCEMENT STANDARDS LABORATORY (LESL) HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO CONDUCT RESEARCH LEADING TO THE DEVELOPMENT AND PROMULGATION OF NATIONAL VOLUNTARY EQUIPMENT STANDARDS TO ASSIST LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES IN THE SELECTION AND PROCUREMENT OF QUALITY EQUIPMENT. THIS DOCUMENT, MOBILE ANTENNAS, IS ONE OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT STANDARDS DEVELOPED BY LESL AND ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE. IT DEALS WITH THOSE CHARACTERISTICS WHICH DETERMINE THE SUITABILITY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF ANTENNAS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT USE. THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS AND TESTS ARE DESCRIBED - RELATIVE ANTENNA GAIN, DIRECTIONAL PATTERN, VOLTAGE STANDING WAVE RATIO, ANTENNA POWER RATING, AND SHOCK AND VIBRATION STABILITY. INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT WILL FIND THIS STRAIGHTFORWARD DOCUMENT MOST HELPFUL. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED) (SNI ABSTRACT)
