A DISPLAY UNIT MOUNTED ATOP POLICE VEHICLES IN ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA IS CAPABLE OF DISPLAYING MESSAGES CONCERNING HIGHWAY SAFETY TO MOTORISTS.
Abstract
THE READER-BOARD OPERATES FROM THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, GENERATING ELECTROMAGNETICALLY FLIPPED DISKS. A COMPUTER MEMORY BANK IS CAPABLE OF STORING UP TO 24 DIFFERENT MESSAGES WHICH CAN BE READ FROM A DISTANCE OF 250 FEET. THE NEW SYSTEM PERMITS OFFICERS TO SIGNAL IN FRONT OF OFFENDING DRIVERS, AND DIRECT LINES OF TRAFFIC SIMULTANEOUSLY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
