A RECORDING COMMUNICATION SYSTEM BY WHICH DATA AND FACSIMILE INFORMATION CAN BE TRANSMITTED THROUGH MOBILE RADIO LINKS IS REPORTED, AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SYSTEM IN RECORDING COMMUNICATION ARE DETAILED.
Abstract
BASIC REQUIREMENTS INCORPORATED IN THE MOBILE DATA TRANSMISSION AND FACSIMILE SYSTEM ARE THAT: (1) THE SIGNAL SPECTRUM MUST CONFORM TO AVAILABLE RADIO LINKS, WITH FREQUENCY BANDWIDTH RANGING FROM 300 HZ TO 3,000 HZ; (2) THE SYSTEM MUST BE DESIGNED, IN PRINCIPLE, TO CARRY OUT TRANSMISSION FROM BASE STATIONS AND RECEIVING OPERATIONS AT MOBILE STATIONS, WITH THE ADDED CAPABILITY OF ABSENTEE RECORDING; (3) THE SYSTEM MUST CONSIST OF TRANSMITTERS AND RECEIVERS; (4) REQUIRED TRANSMISSION EQUIPMENT MUST INCLUDE A DATA TRANSMITTER AND A PICTURE TRANSMITTER; (5) THE REQUIRED RECEIVER MUST BE LIMITED TO ONE TYPE THAT DOES NOT USE ANY LIQUID FOR DEVELOPING AND FIXING PROCESSES EMPLOYED IN OBTAINING HARD COPIES OF DATA AND PICTURES; (6) THE AMOUNT OF INFORMATION EXCEEDING 20 LETTERS MUST BE RECEIVED AND RECORDED ACCURATELY; AND (7) TRANSMISSION TIME REQUIRED FOR A SHEET OF PHOTOGRAPHS MUST BE LESS THAN OR AT 45 SECONDS. SYSTEM EQUIPMENT IS DETAILED, INCLUDING THE DATA TRANSMITTER, THE PICTURE TRANSMITTER, AND THE RECEIVER. THE RESULTS OF SYSTEM FIELD TESTING BY THE TOKYO, JAPAN, METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE PRESENTED. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MOBILE DATA TRANSMISSION AND FACSIMILE SYSTEM IN RECORDING COMMUNICATION ARE NOTED, INCLUDING SPEEDINESS, CORRECTNESS, ABSENTEE RECORDING, SECRET COMMUNICATION, AND PERMANENT RECORDING. TABLES, ILLUSTRATIONS, AND PHOTOGRAPHS ARE INCLUDED. (DEP)
