Abstract
THE MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS TERMINAL (MCT-10), DISCUSSED IN THIS ARTICLE IS A VISUAL DISPLAY TERMINAL WITH A KEYBOARD WHICH THE PATROL USES TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE POLICE DISPATCHER OR DIRECTLY TO THE COMPUTER. THE MCT-10 SYSTEM HAS THREE PRINCIPAL COMPONENTS - A TWO-WAY TERMINAL FOR THE PATROL CAR, A FLEXIBLE INTERFACE SYSTEM FOR THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY'S COMPUTER, AND A POWERFUL RADIO TRANSMISSION TECHNIQUE, CALLED PHASE SHIFT KEYING, TO LINK THE TWO. THIS NEW TECHNIQUE INVOLVES DIGITAL TRANSMISSION OVER TWO-WAY FM RADIOS.
