A task force was established by the Connecticut Department of Correction, Addiction Services Unit to develop an alcohol and drug treatment program based on a Continuity of Care model and standards which included staff workload requirements.
Abstract
Following a summary of Addiction Services history and philosophy and a literature review, this report presents an overview of treatment intervention. The alcohol and drug treatment model program is based on the premise that recovery is a developmental process during which the substance abuser learns new values, attitudes, reasoning, and social skills. The model presented here outlines early recovery and later recovery goals, program components, and learning theory premises. Treatment intervention procedures are detailed, and the planned administration of the program is described. Items covered with regard to staff development include a staff training plan, clinical supervision, and counselor certification. Program evaluation would be conducted via a client tracking system, Addiction Services monitoring audit, and third party evaluations. 9 appendixes
