DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPUTER-BASED DISPATCHING SYSTEM PUT INTO OPERATION IN THE WEST GERMAN STATE OF NORTH RHINE WESTPHALIA WHICH PROVIDES QUICKER AND MORE RELIABLE CONTROL OVER RADIO PATROL VEHICLES.
Abstract
ANY DESIRED NUMBER OF PATROL VEHICLE CONTROLLERS CONNECTED IN PARALLEL CAN OPERATE AT ONE OF THE CONTROL CENTERS. ONE CONTROLLER MONITORS AN OPERATION FROM START TO FINISH UNDER THIS SYSTEM, ELIMINATING DELAYS AND MISTAKES IN TRANSMISSION TO A GREAT EXTENT. A SPECIAL DEVICE INSTALLED IN POLICE CARS MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO TRANSMIT ROUTINE INFORMATION, SUCH AS CALL NUMBER AND STATUS OF THE VEHICLE, BY MERELY PUSHING A BUTTON. SOME 30 PERCENT OF RADIO TRAFFIC WAS PREVIOUSLY DEVATED TO THE TRANSMISSION OF SUCH SIGNALS, SO A CONSIDERABLE SAVING IN AIR TIME HAS BEEN AFFECTED. THE SYSTEM PROVIDES AN OVERALL IMPROVEMENT IN POLICE RESPONSE TIME. --IN GERMAN
