MODERNIZATION OF DANISH PRISON SYSTEM ACHIEVED BY TRAINING PRISON OFFICERS AND WORK SUPERVISORS FOR THE DISCHARGE OF SOCIOEDUCATIONAL FUNCTIONS.
Abstract
THE DANISH PRISON ADMINISTRATION IS OPERATING MORE STRINGENT RECRUITMENT AND BASIC TRAINING PROGRAMS. NEW PRISON STAFFERS ARE SCHOOLED IN GROUP DYNAMICS, CRIMINAL LAW AND PROCEDURE, CRIMINOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY, AND PSYCHIATRY. SPECIAL TRAINING IS GIVEN TO STAFF WHO ATTEND DRUG ADDICTS AND PSYCHOPATHIC CRIMINALS. TOTAL INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IS PURSUED THROUGH CONTINUING TRAINING OF BOTH OLD AND NEW STAFF.
