THE AUTHOR OFFERS A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE PROBLEM OF INCREASING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CRIME, AND OUTLINES THE PRESENT AND FUTURE ROLE OF THE UNITED NATIONS IN DEALING WITH THE CRIME PROBLEM.
Abstract
IT IS STATED THAT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CRIME PREVENTION ACTIVITIES OF THE UNITED NATIONS HAS BEEN THE UNITED NATIONS CONGRESSES ON CRIME PREVENTION AND THE TREATMENT OF OFFENDERS. THE AUTHOR ARGUES THAT ON A WORLD BASIS IT IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY CLEAR THAT COOPERATION BETWEEN NATIONS IS AN ESSENTIAL REQUISITE TO DEVELOPING A MORE EFFECTIVE SYSTEM FOR CRIME PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF OFFENDERS AND THAT THE UNITED NATIONS OFFERS THE ONLY INTERNATIONAL HOPE FOR DRAWING TOGETHER ALL COUNTRIES TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
