This manual provides information for establishing effective youth offending team partnerships in England's youth justice system.
Abstract
This manual was developed by the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales to provide guidance on the delivery of and management arrangements for local youth justice services. The manual is intended for local authorities as well as their statutory partners in health, police, and probation who are required by law to establish effective youth offending team partnerships for the delivery and management of youth justice services. The information in the manual is presented in three main sections. The first section addresses YOT (youth offending team) statutory requirements, arrangements, and structures, and specifically covers statutory partners and functions, finance and resources, the YOT management board, the youth justice plan, the role and composition of the YOT, and YOT managers. The second section provides examples of how the statutory requirements, arrangements, and structures have been put in place. The third section of the manual describes the role of the Youth Justice Board (YJB) in supporting effective governance of England's youth justice system. Appendix
