THE PURPOSE OF AND REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS FOR A MODULAR IMAGE INTENSIFIER SYSTEM ARE OUTLINED BY THE POLICE SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT BRANCH OF THE BRITISH HOME OFFICE.
Abstract
THE MODULAR IMAGE INTENSIFIER, NOT DESIGNED TO BE USED ON A GUN FOR NIGHT SHOOTING, IS A KIT OF PARTS WHICH CAN BE ASSEMBLED ACCORDING TO ITS INTENDED USE. THE INTENSIFIER CAN BE USED FOR DIRECT OBSERVATION (USING EITHER OF THE TWO EYEPIECES), 35 MM PHOTOGRAPHY, OR CCTV UNDER LOW LIGHT-LEVEL CONDITIONS. A SYSTEMS PARTS LIST IS PROVIDED WHICH IDENTIFIES REQUIREMENTS FOR USE OF THE KIT, INCLUDING RANGE AND WEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS FOR LENS, ADAPTORS, BODY ASSEMBLY, VIEWERS, AND CASES. STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE PROVIDED TO ENABLE THE POLICE TO PRODUCE OR PURCHASE EQUIPMENT COVERED BY A RECOGNIZED AND APPROVED STANDARD. STANDARDS OFFERED HERE RELATE TO BODY ASSEMBLY, LENS ADAPTORS, THE BIOCULAR VIEWER, THE MONOCULAR EYEPIECE, THE RELAY LENS, RELAY LENS ADAPTORS, AND HEAVY DUTY CASES. INFORMATION IS INCLUDED FOR INQUIRIES REGARDING THE STANDARD OR THE EQUIPMENT DESCRIBED. FINALLY, A PHOTOGRAPH ILLUSTRATES A MODULAR IMAGE INTENSIFIER SYSTEM KIT. (MHP)
