ACTIVITIES AND GOALS OF PROGRAM TO PREVENT DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AROUND SCHOOLS AND TO IMPROVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE POLICE AND YOUTH.
Abstract
FOLLOWING A BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAM, HIGHLIGHTS ARE GIVEN OF PERSONNEL DEPLOYMENT AND SPECIAL ACTIVITIES. ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO SPECIAL HUMAN RELATIONS TRAINING WHICH THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS MUST TAKE. CONSIDERABLE ATTENTION IS DEVOTED TO CONTINGENCY CONTRACTING, A BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION TECHNIQUE USED BY THE OFFICERS, IN WHICH COOPERATION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE PARTIES IS SECURED AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IS REWARDED AN OUTLINE OF CONTRACTING PROCEDURES, SAMPLE CONTRACTS, AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY ON CONTINGENCY CONTRACTING ARE INCLUDED. COMMENTS ARE THEN MADE ON THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL RELATIONS BUREAU PSYCHOLOGIST. AN EVALUATION OF THE FIRST YEAR OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM IS PRESENTED, FOLLOWED BY OUTCOME DATA AND AN APPENDIX GIVING EXAMPLES OF VOLUNTARY POLICE SUPERVISION.
