DUTCH POLICE AND JUSTICE STATISTICS FOR VARIOUS PERIODS OF 1979 ON OFFENSES, PERSONS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY, BANKRUPTICIES, AND FIRES ARE REPORTED.
Abstract
IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1979, 126,054 OFFENSES WERE REPORTED TO THE POLICE, DOWN 2.5 PERCENT FROM 1978. TRAFFIC OFFENSES ROSE BY 1.5 PERCENT AND OFFENSES AGAINST LIFE AND LIMB BY 9.8 PERCENT, AND PROPERTY OFFENSES BY 7 PERCENT. OTHER OFFENSES INCREASED BY 165 PERCENT BECAUSE OF DRUG CRIMES. OFFENSES REPORTED IN THE SAME PERIOD TO THE ROYAL MARECHAUSSEE (MILITARY POLICE) NUMBERED 1,925, COMPARED TO 1,801 FOR THE SAME PERIOD OF 1978; 75 PERCENT OF THE PERSONS INVOLVED WERE MILITARY PERSONNEL (73 PERCENT IN 1978). IN THE FIRSY QUARTER OF 1979, 667,713 OFFICIAL REPORTS OR FINES FOR NONINDICTABLE OFFENSES WERE RECORDED BY THE POLICE, DOWN 14 PERCENT FROM 1978; 8,014 REPORTS AND 1,012 FINES WERE REGISTERED BY THE ROYAL MARECHAUSSEE, COMPARED TO 10,301 AND 642 IN THE SAME PERIOD OF 1978. TABLES INDICATE GENERAL AND NONINDICTABLE OFFENSES REPORTED TO THE POLICE AND THE ROYAL MARECHAUSSEE IN APRIL 1979, ACCORDING TO PROVINCE, GROUPS OF MUNICIPALITIES, AND OFFENSE TYPES. STATISTICS ON PERSONS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1979 INCLUDE ARRESTS BY JURISDICTION, DURATION OF CUSTODY, AND COURT JURISDICION. A GRAPH TRACES THE MONTHLY COURSE OF BANKRUPTICIES FROM 1975 TO JUNE 1979. FIRES IN APRIL 1979, ARE LISTED BY PROVINCE, THE 17 LARGEST MUNICIPALITIES, AND DAMAGE ACCORDING TO KIND OF FIRE. --IN DUTCH.
